Chapter 1676: Specialties Not Matched Up

After they defeated Viscidus, Lu Li began to adjust his team.

Those who were competing left the team and gave up their place, letting in those who weren’t competing. Of course, they definitely couldn’t let those like Azure Sea Breeze and Lonesome Flower go out to mess around on the competition arena. Only Fat Monkey and Mu Qiu brought new people to go to compete.

They had one less Fire mage and crossbow knight. It didn’t have that much impact on the team’s power. The Boss they were facing now was simply too powerful compared to the one they faced before. Fat Monkey was pretty lucky to have avoided this threat. They only needed to face competitors from clubs – it wasn’t even close to fighting the Twin Emperors.

The Twin Emperors Vek’lor and Vekniss were actually the figurehead rulers of the Ahn’Qiraj insect people’s empire – in actuality, there was a manipulator behind the throne, C’Thun.

In the War of the Shifting Sands the Ahn’Qiraj insect people were defeated by the Night Elf and dragon alliance. After the whole empire had been sealed off, and in order to seek world domination again, the mysterious leader of the Ahn’Qiraj, C’Thun, commanded emperor Vek’lor to create a new lifeform to increase the strength of the insect people. At this, Vek’lor and Vekniss together created the Obsidian Destroyer.

This way, Vekniss used his natural power, using volcano stones as the main material to create the Obsidian Destroyer’s huge body. Vek’lor, on the other hand, used magic powers to provide the strength of the Obsidian Destroyer.

Because Vek’lor was physically immune, he could only do magic attacks. Whilst Vekniss was immune to magic, but he was a master in sword arts. So, they were called the Magic Emperor and the Sword Emperor.

The Twin Emperors were pretty much considered the first pair of Bosses in Dawn which shared their HP. In future patches, there were a lot of Bosses which were like the Twin Emperors, with a lot of similarities between their way of fighting. Lu LI had done some deep research into this type of Boss.

The room they were in was triangular. There was a platform on one side, and the doorway where the players entered was also considered a platform.

After entering, the Emperor on the platform to the left in front of them was holding a magic staff in his hand. He was the Emperor Vek’lor. The emperor on the platform to the left in front of them had a huge sword in his hand, which was evidently the sword master Emperor Vekniss. There was a big piece of lang between them, filled with little yellow bugs crawling all over it.

These little bugs weren’t monsters that actively attacked them. As soon as they attacked them, the battle would start immediately.

“Oh, a great competitor getting held up by Main Tank duties, I’m done.” At this moment, Azure Sea Breeze was like he was possessed by the minstrel Big Dog Li, still brooding on the fact that he couldn’t go to compete.

Afterwards he died, because he wanted to clean up the little bugs. This death wasn’t meaningless at all though. At least they knew that at the beginning, you couldn’t, or you didn’t have to, kill the little bugs first.

“Breezy go pull the one with the sword, Wandering you go pull the one with the stick,” Lu Li commanded. They had to test the waters each time they attempt a new dungeon; there was no way they’d get it immediately. That’s right, Lu Li’s strategy this time was still testing it out. Not long after Azure Sea Breeze and Wandering had worked together here – actually, not even ten seconds later, they were gone. This time, the whole tired team followed in dying.

The first time only Azure Sea Breeze went up, so the second time, there was a healer who added HP.

“It’s not working, when I get close, he starts an Arcane Explosion, there’s just no way to pull him,” Wandering complained, refusing to play the role of cannon fodder again. He was sure there was no way he could pull the magic emperor. This magic emperor just wouldn’t give him a chance to get close.

“Looks like we can’t use close combat to pull the monster. This Boss looks like a magic attack type, so let’s think about how we can use magic to fight it,” Lu Li suggested.

Opening an Instance Dungeon was always like this. Through deaths, they would figure out where they went wrong, then try something new. If the new tactic failed, then they’d keep trying something else. If it worked, it meant that everyone had found out the right way to fight.

A mage – that is, Lonesome Flower took over Wandering’s place.

He was responsible for getting things started with the magic emperor. Because magic roles had the skill of not drawing Aggro, pulling a monster was dependent on output alone. At the moment, Lonesome Flower was the magic role who had the strongest attack, so whenever there was such a need, he was chosen first.

The reality confirmed that he really was not bad at pulling aggro. Not many people were able to snatch aggro away from him. It was just a shame that he simply couldn’t aggro with this Boss. The magic emperor Vek’lor had another skill apart from being able to cast Arcane Explosion when others got within five yards of him. He had the skill of being able to launch Shadow Bolts to the unit with the highest aggro.

Lonesome Flower simply didn’t have much Shadow defense at all, so when these Shadow Bolts hit him, it was a direct hit of almost 5000 damage; This one-shot him.

“No Shadow defense.” Lonesome Flower didn’t have much to say. He just pointed out the facts. They weren’t really attacking this boss, they were defending against it. He simply couldn’t be attacked. Mages usually had higher Shadow defense than the average physical unit, but it couldn’t be compared at all with a warlock. Warlocks had a special attack. Dawn really took care to make sure all roles had their own specialties.

“Are you going, or me?” Sesame Rice Ball asked Kitty Likes Meat. They were both warlocks with powerful equipment and skills. The former had followed Lu Li from a very early stage and was one of the veterans of the club. The latter was a very high placed competitor and always got priority for equipment when it came to first clears.

“I’ll go, but I’ll have to borrow some of your equipment,” Kitty Likes Meat volunteered eagerly.

Being DPS all the time would get boring. It was very rare to get to chance to experience playing the role of an NPC. Such a lively girl like Kitty Likes Meat wouldn’t let this opportunity pass by.

Sesame Rice Ball was even younger than Kitty Likes Meat, but to others, he was an old but steady introverted player in the game. So he simply took off the equipment that Kitty Likes Meat wanted and gave it to her. Everyone was family here; They wouldn’t worry about others not returning equipment. Kitty Likes Meat combined equipment from two people and she suddenly became very powerful.

She purposely focused on her Shadow defense, even consuming a Shadow defense potion. The Shadow Bolts which dealt five or 6000 damage to Lonesome Flower only did two or 3000 to her. This was the definitive defensive capabilities of a role and equipment. Kitty Likes Meat endured two Shadow Bolts with no problem at all. She just need a healer to give her HP and there was basically no way she would fail. Even if there was a critical hit, there was still a chance to let the healer save her.

Azure Sea Breeze pulled the sword emperor, while Kitty Likes Meat pulled the magic emperor. Both of them securely pulled their own Bosses. However, this was definitely not enough to prevent the team from dying again. The Twin Emperors were evidently much more powerful than those Bosses of Ahn’Qiraj Temple before. The two of them suddenly changed places, and everyone faced disaster because they simply didn’t have time to react.

Changing places like this meant that Azure Sea Breeze ended up pulling the magic Emperor and Kitty Likes Meat ended up defending against the sword emperor.

Their defenses didn’t match their bosses!
